A book about Chokebore and a new TVB album
Out now: "Chokebore: Days of Nothing"
The first book ever about Chokebore has just been published in France! "Chokebore: Days of Nothing" was released yesterday by independent publishing house Camion Blanc, specialized in rock music. The book, featuring original interviews with Troy Von Balthazar, as well as drummer Christian Omar Madrigal Izzo and original drummer Johnee Kop, traces the history of the band from its early days in Honolulu circa 1989 to the latest European tour in 2013, and until the present day with Troy's solo career and other member's projects. It was written by Thierry Jourdain, who has already published two music books, the first one about Bruce Springsteen, and the second one about Elliott Smith. Thierry has been organizing cultural and artistic events in Normandy since 2004, and became friends with Troy Von Balthazar after inviting him to play a show in Rouen in 2008. He is the founder and editor of the "DIY magazine & label" Equilibre Fragile, the second issue of which included a Troy Von Balthazar feature, and which released a Chokebore/TVB Tribute cassette last summer. The book also features fifty beautiful black & white photographs contributed by Magali Boyer, including the cover image which was shot at Chokebore's 2010 reunion show in Paris, France, and a few others shot by yours truly :)
The book is available now on Camion Blanc's website, and should be available in stores soon.
And if you want to read about the book before actually reading the book itself, check out this nice interview of Thierry Jourdain and Magali Boyer on French music blog Soul Kitchen.
